AMERICA'S GREATEST DOG

Season 1 of AMERICA'S GREATEST DOG premiered on CBS July 10/08. Owners and dogs, “from pageant dogs to those dogs simply trained at home,” all live in the same house for several weeks just like the shows for people only (NY loft or Hollywood hills?). Dog and owner will “battle it out in a competition that puts the dog’s relationship with the person who has raised and trained it to the test. In the end, only one team of loving owner and faithful dog will emerge victorious in the ultimate search for AMERICA'S GREATEST DOG."

Season 1 was cast in March/08. The original plan was an intial round of casting in January-February, with finals in LA during March. A late, short-notice LA open call was added for March 10th. Applications continued to be accepted long after the February/March 2008 deadlines - but the applications were finally removed from the CBS website in late May.

VPTV will update this post when new information (like whether or not the series gets renewed for a 2nd season) becomes available. If ratings warrant one, CBS clearly wants the producer ready to pull the trigger on short notice.
